  17. This program is a simple utility provided for Windows users who would like a quick and easy
  18. way to exit windows & more.

  20. System Requirements:

  22. Windows 3.0 or Higher in protected mode (NOT REAL MODE)
  23. A machine that can run Windows 3.0 higher
  24. VBRUN200.DLL

  26. NOTE: It is suggested that Beyond Windows Exit should be kept in your Startup Group (Win 3.1)
  27.       with the Run Minimized property checked.  If you have Windows 3.0 you should open your
  28.       Windows.INI file and edit the line that says LOAD= to say LOAD=BWE.EXE.

  31. This program has the following features:
  32. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  33. Drag & Drop         - A program (bat, com or exe) may be dragged from File Manager and
  34.               dropped into Beyond Windows Exit (BWE).  The path and filename will
  35.               be added to the Program Name text box.
  36. Exit Windows        - Exits Windows and brings you to the DOS prompt
  37. Restart Windows        - Restarts Windows
  38. Exit/Run/Restart    - Exits Windows, runs the DOS program listed in the Program Name
  39.               text box with the arguments listed in the Command Line Arguments
  40.               dialog.
  41. Reboot System        - Exits Windows and reboots your computer
  42. Quit            - Quits BWE
  43.  
  44. Program Name        - The name of a program (bat, com or exe) is added here to control
  45.               what program is run in DOS.  DO NOT INCLUDE any arguments for the
  46.               DOS program here!
  47. Command Line Arguments    - Any additonal arguments you may need for your DOS application.
  48.               (EXAMPLE:  Program Name says - C:\DOS\EDIT.COM and Command Line
  49.               Arguments says C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT then Windows will exit and start
  50.               MS-DOS editor with your Autoexec.bat file loaded.  When you exit
  51.               the MS-DOS editor, Windows will automatically restart.)

  64. /s        Same as clicking Reboot System.
  65.         (EXAMPLE: C:\MYDIR\BWE.EXE /s)

  67. /t:prog,args    /t:  = Same as clicking Exit/Run/Restart.
  68.         prog = text to place in the program name text box.
  69.         args = text to place in the command line arguments text box.
  70.         (EXAMPLE: C:\MYDIR\BWE.EXE /t:C:\DOS\EDIT.COM,C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT)

  72. NOTICE:  If you need to use a forward slash as a arguement, you MUST instead
  73.          use a section mark (º press ALT and press 0167 on the NUMBER PAD ONLY).
  74.          Beyond Windows Exit will convert these to forward slashes before it
  75.          exits Windows.

  84.  Problem:
  85. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  86.  Programs that restart applications which are running when Windows
  87.  exits will "remember" that BWE was running when you exited Windows.
  88.  If you use any command line arguments, then the next time you
  89.  start Windows, the program will BWE with those same command
  90.  line options.  This will cause an infinte loop of exiting 
  91.  Windows.

  93.  Solution for PC Tools for Windows:
  94. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  95.  If you are using the MultiDesk (Virtual Desktop) feature, you MUST
  96.  disable the RESTORE OPEN ITEMS ON ACTIVATION checkbox for the 
  97.  Desktop where you run BWE.

  99.  How to solve the problem after the infinite loop begins:
  100. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  101.  1. Restart your computer WITHOUT starting Windows (boot up from 
  102.     a floppy if necessary).
  103.  
  104.  2. Change to the directory where BWE.EXE is located.
  105.  
  106.  3. Rename BWE.EXE to BWE.SAV
  107.  
  108.  4. Restart your computer (be sure to remove any floppies) and
  109.     start Windows.
  110.  
  111.  5. Start File Manager and rename BWE.SAV back to BWE.EXE.
  112.  
  113.  6. Be more careful next time!
